Each year our practice has been open, we have seen more and more adult patients. One reason for this is that the treatments are more efficient and more comfortable than in the past. However, an even bigger reason for this is that the treatments we can offer now are more esthetically pleasing and discreet than they were in the past. Even if you had braces when you were a kid, things have changed for the better and Dr. Delplanche treats patients from age 7 all the way to 97!

With options such as clear braces and Invisalign, most patients need to come in for appointments only every 8-12 weeks. We want to take up less of your time to allow you to do more of the things you love!

Yes! In fact, it is even more important to visit the dentist regularly while in orthodontic treatment. Patients in braces may notice food be caught in places that their toothbrush cannot reach as well as they are used to. This can cause bacteria to build up and can lead to cavities, gingivitis, and gum disease. We will work with your dentist to help make sure your teeth stay clean and healthy.

Orthodontists start out as dentists and go on to attend an additional 2.5-3 years of full-time orthodontics residency to study dentofacial orthopedics or how to correct tooth issues related to misaligned teeth. Dr. Delplanche is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, which is an advantage when choosing an orthodontist. This is a credential that only about one third of all orthodontists have acquired.

In general, retainers should be worn to keep teeth aligned properly after orthodontic treatment. Dr. Delplanche will discuss with you the different types of retainers we offer and the advantages of each one and recommend the best one for your unique treatment plan. Most of our patients wear their retainers at night-time only, and we can help you make wearing your retainer a part of your dental health routine.

With braces, you will need to brush your teeth at least three times a day to keep your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy and clean. Brushing regularly will help remove any food that may be caught between the braces. You should also floss daily to get in between your braces where your brush is not able to reach. We can show you how to properly brush and floss once your braces are placed. This is the same if you are in Invisalign aligner treatment as you would want to have clean teeth when you are wearing your aligners, otherwise you may cause damage to your teeth and gums.
